State Committee Chairs
ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL (ECOSOC)
Hello! I’m Ananth Moorthy, and I will be chairing the Economic and Social Committee at this year’s State MUN. I am currently a Junior at Plano West High School, and I have participating in Model UN for the last 4 years. I’ve always had a passion for both global and domestic political affairs, and I’ve come to appreciate Model UN as an avenue to cultivate this interest, which is something I believe every new delegate expects. I’ve also volunteered in political campaigns, like that of Beto O’Rourke who ran for senate, and, as a hobby, I often binge NPR (who doesn’t like the soothing voice of Steve Inskeep?). If you’re in my committee, I look forward to meeting you and, hopefully, help you become a better delegate. If you aren’t, I wish you the best of luck at State!
Hello! My name is Kayla Garza and it is my honor to serve as one of your chairs. I am a senior at Oak Ridge High School, just north of Houston. Not only am I involved in MUN for my second year, but in NHS, Mu Alpha Theta, Speech and Debate (Public Forum, Extemp), and I have participated in Youth and Government for four years. In my free time, I enjoy reading, writing poetry, and I love long car rides. As this is my last year in MUN I hope to make it the best!
SOCIAL, CULTURAL, HUMANITARIAN (SOCUM)
Hello Delegates! My name is Grace Kottak and I will be your SOCHUM chair for the 2019 YMCA MUN State conference. I am a junior at New Tech High at Coppell, and have attended numerous different MUN conferences over the years. Since my freshman year, I have become increasingly invested in and passionate about the organization as it gives participants a outlet and platform. Outside of MUN, I love to spend time with my family and friends, write, and delve into geopolitical issues and policies. I look forward to meeting you, and facilitating an engaging debate.
UNICEF (Middle School Committee)
Kirby Cabler is a junior at Oak Ridge High School in Houston. This is her second year as a chair for the MUN program, and third year overall. Kirby has participated in her school's speech and debate program, serving on the council. Kirby loves current events, global and domestic. She feels strongly about individual rights and looks forwards to seeing debate on the topics at hand.
UNICEF (High School Committee)
